The brain-child of Maxwell Osborne and Dao Yi Chow, New York label Public School seems to finally hit the media and fashion critics alike as the ‘ultra-hip’. The designers first met when they worked together at Sean John, Puff Daddy’s clothing line, in the early aughts. Acording to Osborne, the idea for Public School was born out of frustration: “We were walking through a showroom one day, talking about what we were excited to wear as individuals, and we were like, ‘Shit, there’s nothing really here. What the fuck are we doing? Let’s start a brand.’”

Their latest menswear collection Spring/Summer 2016 was presented at the Skylight Clarkson warehouse turned NYFW: Men’s epicenter near Manhattan’s West Side Highway, fashion’s spectators were “immediately transported to what could have been a scene from Law & Order: SVU” as mentioned on Interview Magazine.

The show consisted of series of jailhouse lineups, each containing five live mannequins in coordinating outfits (blue hues in one cell, optic white in another, and so on). “We’re trying to build a Public School uniform,” Chow explained, pointing to the “sharp tailoring mixed with athletic cues where we play with proportion and a whole bunch of attitude.”
